AHL Release

SAN ANTONIO (January 17, 2013) – The American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that San Antonio Rampage rookie forward Drew Shore has been selected to the Western Conference AHL All-Star Team for the league’s 2013 Dunkin’ Donuts AHL All-Star Classic set to be played on Jan. 28 in Providence, R.I.

Shore, 21, is tied for the team lead with 29 points in 39 games this season. The first-year center leads the Rampage and is tied for second in the league among rookies with 19 assists on the year. The Denver, Colo., native also holds a plus-4 rating – the third highest plus-minus rating on the team. Shore has recorded six multi-point games in his young professional career and has recorded seven power-play points. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound forward was selected in the second round (44th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers.

Shore is among 13 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders representing the Western Conference. He is the 12th player to be nominated to represent the Rampage in the annual event and was chosen by a committee of the league’s coaches.

The 2013 Dunkin’ Donuts All-Star Classic in Providence will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League, competing in the AHL All-Star Skills Competition and the AHL All-Star Game to be televised nationally in the United States and Canada. Of the 597 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since the event was reinstated in 1995, more than 92 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Daniel Briere, Dustin Brown, Ryan Callahan, Mike Cammalleri, Zdeno Chara, Miikka Kiprusoff, Ryan Miller, Zach Parise, Tuukka Rask, Pekka Rinne, Bobby Ryan, Martin St. Louis, Cory Schneider, Jason Spezza and Eric Staal.

The 2013 Dunkin’ Donuts AHL All-Star Classic, pitting the top players from the AHL’s Eastern Conference against the best of the Western Conference, will begin with the AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. ET. The AHL All-Star Game will follow on Monday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. ET.

Beginning Friday and until Jan. 24, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the starting lineups for the 2013 AHL All-Star Game by visiting the AHL’s Facebook page and completing the official CCM AHL All-Star Fan Ballot. Voters will also be entered to win prizes of a team-signed 2013 AHL All-Star stick (two) and team-signed 2013 AHL All-Star commemorative programs (10).
