Rampage Sign Trio of Players

SAN ANTONIO (July 16, 2013) – San Antonio Rampage General Manager Mike Santos announced today that the club has re-signed defenseman John Lee to an AHL contract. In addition, the Rampage have inked forward Tony Turgeon and defenseman Dennis Urban to AHL contracts.

Lee, 24, returns to the Rampage for his second professional season after recording one goal and six assists in 50 games during the 2012-13 campaign. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound defenseman played four years at the University of Denver (2008-12) and totaled eight goals and 35 assists in 162 games. The Moorhead, Minn., native also played two seasons (2006-08) for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL and recorded three goals and 18 assists in 86 games. Lee was drafted by the Panthers in the fifth round (131st overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Turgeon, 23, enters the professional ranks after three years on the blueline at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he totaled six assists in 62 games, along with 169 penalty minutes (2010-13). The 6-foot-4, 228-pound forward skated one season (2009-10) for the Waterloo Black Hawks and totaled 113 penalty minutes in 28 games. Turgeon also played two seasons (2007-09) for the Bismarck Bobcats of the NAHL and recorded eight goals, seven assists and 154 penalty minutes in 101 games. The Grand Forks, N.D., native was an invitee to the Florida Panthers Development Camps which took place last week in Coral Springs.

Urban, 25, joins the Rampage after spending his last four professional seasons as a part of the San Jose Sharks organization. Urban made his AHL debut last year for Worchester and played in 36 games for the Sharks, tallying four goals and 13 assists. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound defenseman has played 117 games for the Reading Royals of the ECHL in the last three seasons (2010-13) and has recorded 28 goals and 54 assists. Prior to turning pro, Urban manned the blueline for four seasons at Robert Morris University (2007-11) and set the school’s career scoring record for a defenseman with 112 points (28 goals, 84 assists) in 136 games.
