SAN ANTONIO (July 9, 2013) – San Antonio Rampage General Manager Mike Santos announced today that forwards Jared Gomes and Jed Ortmeyer and defenseman Zach Miskovic will return to the Rampage for the 2013-14 campaign on AHL contracts. In addition, the club has signed forward Trevor Lewis to an AHL contract.

Gomes, 24, led all Rampage rookies in scoring during the 2012-13 season with 16 goals and 17 assists in his first professional year. Gomes also paced the team with 73 games played and finished the season on a five-game goal scoring streak. The Brampton, Ont., native played three seasons (2009-12) at the University of Prince Edward Island before turning pro, recording 48 goals and 37 assists in 84 games. Gomes also played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League for the Sarnia Sting (2005-08) and the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors (2008-09), amassing 75 goals and 77 assists in 256 games.

Ortmeyer, 34, has logged 345 NHL games between four teams in his 10-year professional career, tallying a total of 22 goals and 31 assists. Last season, Ortmeyer suited up in 32 games for the Rampage and recorded six goals and nine assists. The veteran winger also donned the Silver and Black for 20 games during the 2010-11 season and recorded three points (two goals, one assist) with the Rampage. The Omaha, Neb., native has totaled 42 goals and 74 assists in 263 AHL games with Hartford, Milwaukee, Houston and San Antonio. Ortmeyer has also scored 12 goals and 16 assists in 57 AHL playoff games in his career.

Miskovic, 28, was acquired from the Chicago Wolves on Feb. 14 and suited up in 27 games for the Silver and Black to finish the 2012-13 season. The Forrest River, Ill., native recorded four goals and nine assists for the Rampage and finished the season tied for first on the team with a plus-8 rating. Prior to being acquired by San Antonio, Miskovic played in 15 games for Chicago and tallied two goals and one assist. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defenseman enters his fifth AHL season, having recorded a total of 19 goals and 42 assists in 194 games. Miskovic played four years at St. Lawrence University (2005-09) and recorded 27 goals and 46 assists in 154 contests. In his senior season, the River Forest, Ill., native led the nation with 16 goals from the blueline.

Lewis, 25, skated in 24 regular season games for the Cincinnati Cyclones, the Rampage’s ECHL affiliate, in his first professional season after playing four years at Robert Morris University (2008-12). The 5-foot-11, 175-pound forward tallied five goals and 13 assists in 24 games for Cincinnati and chipped in 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in 12 playoff games for the Cyclones. Lewis also suited up in six games for the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen last season. At Robert Morris, Lewis totaled 30 goals and 54 assists in 143 career games for the Colonials. The Lititz, Penn., native was named the Offensive Player of the Year at Robert Morris in his senior season (2011-12) after recording eight goals and 21 assists in 39 games.
