San Antonio Rampage General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that they have signed right wing Andrew Orpik to an American Hockey League contract. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Orpik, a native of East Amherst, NY, joins the Rampage from Boston College (NCAA) where he amassed 47 points (18 goals, 29 assists) in 155 games and tacked on 145 penalty minutes over his four-year collegiate career as an Eagle.
During his senior year, he posted five goals and 12 assists for 17 points in 36 games, his collegiate-best. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound rookie was a member of Boston College’s 2008 NCAA National Championship team.
“Andrew is a young player who has played the past four seasons in an excellent program at Boston College,” said Rampage General Manager Brad Treliving. “He is a big body who brings an element of physicality and grit and we look forward to continuing his development as a pro within our organization.”
Orpik, 23, was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh round (227th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. His brother, Brooks, plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL) and was a member of the 2009 Stanley Cup Championship team.
