GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled left wing Daniel Carcillo and defenseman Matt Jones from San Antonio of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Carcillo, 22, has recorded 5-7-12 and a league-leading 172 penalty minutes (PIM) in 33 games with the Coyotes this season.  He has missed the last 16 games due to a knee injury.  Carcillo also collected a goal and an assist in two games with San Antonio after being assigned to the Rampage on Jan. 24.

The King City, Ontario native played 18 games with the Coyotes last season after being acquired from Pittsburgh along with a third round choice in the 2008 Entry Draft in exchange for forward Georges Laraque on Feb. 27, 2007.  Carcillo registered 4-3-7 and 74 PIM after making his NHL debut with the Coyotes on Mar. 3, 2007. 

 The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Carcillo spent two seasons with Wilkes-Barre (AHL), recording 32-22-54 and 494 PIM in 103 games.   

Carcillo was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round (73rd overall) of the 2003 Entry Draft.  In 51 career NHL games with the Coyotes, he has recorded 9-10-19 and 246 PIM.

Jones, 24, has recorded 0-2-2 and 6 PIM in 37 games with the Coyotes this season. He also appeared in five games for San Antonio after being assigned to the Rampage for conditioning on Jan. 19.

The Downers Grove, Illinois native played 45 games with the Coyotes last season, registering 1-6-7 and 39 PIM. The 6-foot, 215-pound defenseman also collected 0-2-2 and 23 PIM in 24 games with San Antonio last season. 

The Coyotes selected Jones in the 3rd round (80th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.  He played four seasons at the University of North Dakota and helped lead his team to the 2005 NCAA Frozen Four championship game as an assistant captain.

In 98 career NHL games with the Coyotes, Jones has recorded 1-10-11 and 59 PIM.
