Jason Cipolla

Rampage Assistant Coach

Jason Cipolla enters his first season as assistant coach with the San Antonio Rampage and fifth season as an assistant coach in the American Hockey League. Cipolla joins the Rampage from the Rochester Americans where he served as assistant coach under newly appointed Rampage head coach Chuck Weber last season. He made his coaching debut with the Rochester Americans during the 2007-08 season and has helped coached the Amerks for the past four seasons (2007-11). During the 2009-10 season, he and former Rochester head coach Benoit Groulx led the Amerks to an impressive 44-33-2-1 (91 points) season and a berth in the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The 35-year-old brings 12 seasons of playing experience to the job, having appeared in 701 career games between North America and Europe. He won one championship in his career, capturing the 1997 Kelly Cup Championship with the South Carolina Stingrays.

The former Yale University standout spent the majority of his career in the American Hockey League with the St. John’s Maple Leafs, Rochester Americans and Manitoba Moose. Cipolla played in 299 AHL games and registered 62 goals and 102 assists.

Cipolla, a Toronto, Ontario native, spent the last four seasons of his playing career in Europe (2002-05), which included a stint with Team Canada in the 2003 Swiss Challenge Cup. In 2002-03, Cipolla split his first season with Lukko Rauma of the Finnish Elite League and Iserlohn of the German Elite League (DEL). He spent the entire 2003-04 season with the Iserlohn Roosters before signing with Hannover in 2004-05. Cipolla ended his playing days with the Hannover Scorpions (2004-05 and 2005-06) and recorded 24 goals and 19 assists in 98 games.

Jason and his wife, Kristin, have two daughters, Isabelle and Ava, and a son, Alexander.
