Rampage sign J.D. Watt to PTO

San Antonio Rampage General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed right wing J.D. Watt to a professional try-out (PTO).

Watt, 23, joins the Rampage from the Abbotsford Heat where he has skated in 27 contests this season posting one goal and three assists and 73 penalty minutes. He has skated in 139 AHL contests recording nine goals and 10 assists including 486 penalty minutes with Abbotsford and Quad City.

The 6-foot-2, 196-pound right wing has appeared in 19 ECHL games tallying five goals and nine assists with the Las Vegas Wranglers and the Utah Grizzlies (2008-10).

The Cremona, Alberta native played five seasons (2003-08) in the Western Hockey League (WHL) posting a combined 62 goals and 79 assists including 763 penalty minutes in 255 games between Vancouver, Red Deer and Regina. He helped lead Vancouver to a Memorial Championship in 2007 and won the WHL Championship in 2006 with the Giants.

He was selected by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2005 NHL Draft.

The Rampage host the Grand Rapids Griffins this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
