SS&E and The PM Group win Telly Award for Rampage Commercial

Spurs Sports & Entertainment can now add “international award winning TV creative” to its long list of organization accolades. With nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this year’s Telly Awards proved to be one of the most successful competitions ever. SS&E brought home a total of three awards; a Silver Telly Award (the highest creative honor awarded) for the San Antonio Rampage’s branding spot called “Date Night” and two Bronze awards for the San Antonio Spurs “Be” and “In Here” TV campaigns. The three winning commercials were created by The PM Group, SS&E’S locally-based advertising agency of record.

“The ‘Date Night’ spot was a new direction creatively for the Rampage,” said Spurs Sports & Entertainment Sr. Vice President of Sales and Marketing Frank Miceli. “The spot generated tremendous buzz in the market and most importantly generated the interest needed to bring new fans and success to the Rampage hockey team. The PM Group did an excellent job with their innovative and creative TV spots for both the Spurs and Rampage.

PM Group President, Bob Wills added ,“The SS&E marketing team took a big leap of faith with the ‘Date Night’ parody TV spot that has since been critically acclaimed. In addition to winning the highest Telly’s honor, it was also a Sports Forum finalist as the best TV spot at this past January’s awards ceremony. ‘Date Night’ competed against major league commercials produced for the Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Pirates, the Oakland A’s and others. It’s amazing that a minor league TV spot was right up there with the big guys.”

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television networks and stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world including ESPN, FOX Sports, NBC Universal, Comcast, ABC/Disney and CBS.
