The San Antonio Rampage have teamed up with the San Antonio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to host Pink in the Rink Night on Feb. 3, 2012 when the Rampage face the Houston Aeros at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
The Rampage will dye the ice pink to signify breast health awareness. Last season, the team set a new franchise record as 14,339 fans witnessed the Rampage host the Chicago Wolves on pink ice for the first time in AT&T Center history.
The team will wear pink themed jerseys that will be auctioned off to the public immediately following the game. A portion of the proceeds from the auction and ticket sales will benefit Komen San Antonio. The Rampage raised $25,000 from their first Pink in the Rink event last season to benefit the San Antonio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® began in 1982 as a promise between Nancy G. Brinker and her sister Susan G. Komen who died of breast cancer at the age of 36. It has since turned into the world’s largest nonprofit organization supporting breast cancer, having raised nearly 1.9 billion dollars toward finding the cure and bettering the lives of those facing this disease.
Established in 1997, Komen San Antonio Affiliate has invested more than $12.75 million. Seventy-five percent supports local nonprofit programs providing vital breast cancer screening, treatment and education right here in San Antonio. The remaining 25 percent goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program for groundbreaking breast cancer research and scientific programs around the world.
Tickets for the game on Feb. 3, and all season long, start at $10 and can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, by calling a Rampage representative at 210.444.5554 or online at sarampage.com.
