San Antonio took four penalties in the first period, but was able to escape the opening frame only trailing by a score of 1-0. Texas forward Tomas Vincour banged home a power-play goal out of midair at 14:31 after Rampage netminder Dov Grumet-Morris made a flurry of saves down low.

Texas extended its lead to 2-0 only 1:12 into the second period. Stars forward Francis Wathier beat Grumet-Morris low on a shot from the top of the right circle.

Grumet-Morris made a sprawling post-to-post save nine minutes into the middle frame to keep it a two-goal game. But Alex Chiasson extended the lead for the Stars at 12:37 of the second period when he charged the net on an odd-man rush and was able to redirect a pass into the back of the net.

While on a 5-on-3 man-advantage, Texas defenseman Brenden Dillon blasted a shot from the point with 1:27 remaining in the second period that found its way through traffic and past Grumet-Morris. The tally marked the Stars second power-play goal of the game and gave the home team a 4-0 advantage heading into the second intermission.

Shore tallied the Rampage’s only goal of the game with 4:37 remaining in the third period. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound forward dug the puck out of the corner, faked a shot then beat Stars netminder Cristopher Nilstorp stick-side.

Grumet-Morris made 20 saves for the Rampage in the loss, while Nilstorp recorded 18 saves for the Stars.

The Rampage will play their final preseason game against the Stars tomorrow (Saturday)at 4 p.m. at Northwoods Ice Center with Fan Fest starting an hour before puck drop. Rampage fans can enjoy several activities leading up to the game, including an indoor interactive gaming area on the turf side of the facility. There will also be several inflatables set up for fans to enjoy and select Rampage players will sign autographs starting at 3:30 p.m.
