SAN ANTONIO (March 7, 2013) – San Antonio Rampage General Manager Mike Santos announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed forward Evan Barlow and defenseman David MacDonald to professional tryout contracts. In addition, the Rampage have recalled from loan forward David Pacan from the team’s ECHL affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones.

Barlow, 27, returns to San Antonio after spending the majority of the 2011-12 campaign with the Silver and Black. Last year, Barlow recorded 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists) in 57 games for the Rampage. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound forward also tallied two goals and three assists in 10 games for the Rampage in the Calder Cup Playoffs. This season, Barlow has played 20 games for the Hersey Bears, tallying two goals and three assists. He also has spent time with the San Francisco Bulls and Reading Royals of the ECHL, recording six goals and nine assists in a combined 13 games between the teams.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound defenseman played in his first professional season last year with the Cyclones and tallied three points (one goal, two assists) in 14 games. Prior to turning pro, MacDonald played one season at Dalhousie University where he captained the team. In addition, MacDonald played four years at St. Mary’s University where he totaled 65 points (10 goals, 55 assists).

Pacan, 21, is being recalled to the Rampage for the third time this season. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound forward has recorded two assists in four games for the Rampage this season and currently leads the Cyclones in scoring with 48 points (14 goals, 34 assists) in 53 games. Pacan, the sixth-round selection (177th overall) of the Chicago BlackHawks in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft spent the last two seasons with the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League and played in 133 games, recording 49 goals and 77 assists. During the IceDogs playoff run last year, Pacan averaged 1.00 points per game on eight goals and 12 assists in 20 games as the club made it to the Robertson Cup Finals.

The Rampage will travel to Cedar Park Center tomorrow (Friday) for a 7:30 p.m. game against the Texas Stars. The club will then kick off a four-game home stand on Sunday, March 10th at 4:30 p.m. against the Oklahoma City Barons on Pucks & Paws Night.
