Rampage Launch "Matsumoto's Rescues"

SAN ANTONIO (October 30, 2013) – The San Antonio Rampage announced today the launch of “Matsumoto’s Rescues” headlined by Rampage forward Jon Matsumoto. The program is aimed to address the stray dog population in the neighborhood surrounding AT&T Center by hosting a series of collection drives throughout the Rampage season.

At all seven home Sunday games, including the team’s seventh-annual Pucks and Paws Night on March 9, fans are encouraged to bring pet food, towels, blankets, paper towels, pet shampoo and plastic grocery bags to AT&T Center to be donated to the Animal Defense League, a no-kill shelter in San Antonio.

The program officially gets underway on Thursday from 2-3 p.m. at the Animal Defense League (11300 Nacogdoches Rd.). Matsumoto will visit two dogs he personally rescued on his way home following a recent Rampage game, one of which required extensive surgery. Both dogs, named Rampage and Silver Star, are currently available for adoption.

“My wife, Kristen, and I have always been animal lovers and we saw this as a great opportunity to help pets here in San Antonio,” Matsumoto said. “We have a rescue dog of our own and we want to do everything we can to help animals in need find permanent homes.”

By bringing pet supplies to AT&T Center for Sunday Rampage games, fans will be entered in for a chance to win great prizes at the conclusion of every Sunday game. In addition, Matsumoto will donate $20 to the Animal Defense League for every goal he scores this season.

The Animal Defense League will bring dogs ready for adoption to all Sunday home games at the “Matsumoto’s Rescues” table on the concourse. The Voices for Animals Group from Highlands High School, the 2010-11 Team Up Challenge Champions, will also assist with the program.

Tickets to Rampage home games start at $10 and can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
