Rampage Make an Impact

To most people, the San Antonio Rampage take the ice at the AT&T Center and they fight -- they fight for wins. They fight for a playoff spot. They fight for an edge on their opponent in any way they can. What some may not see, is the fight to enrich their community and improve the lives of everyone they come in contact with.

The Rampage are a consistent presence in efforts to impact the lives of the people and fans who come watch them battle on the ice, and that couldn't be more evident than it was at Wednesday's Face Off Against Kids Cancer event.

The program, which is in its fifth year of existence, pairs players with kids from the Centers for Oncology and Blood Disorders at the Children's Hospital of San Antonio. A series of events are planned throughout the season and players form a lasting relationship with their buddies.

Express News columnist Roy Bragg captured the evening perfectly with his story about Wednesday's event at CiCi's Pizza.

Additionally, the Express News has followed the U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team as they compete in Sochi. Three Rampage sled hockey players, Rico Roman, Josh Sweeney and Jen Lee are competing for the Red, White and Blue. The team earned a 5-1 win over Italy in its opening game this morning, which will re-air at 4:30 p.m. on NBCSN.

John Whisler followed Roman's path to Sochi in an excellent feature that appeared in Friday's edition of the Express News.
