Poke Checks: Cyclones Playoffs, Team USA

In this edition of Poke Checks, sarampage.com takes a look around the hockey landscape as the Cincinnati Cyclones continue their chase for the Kelly Cup and Vince Trocheck and Drew Shore suit up for the U.S. National Team in Belarus.
U.S. Team at the World Championships
The U.S. National Team is 2-1 through its first three games of the IIHF World Championships in Minsk, Belarus. The Red, White and Blue topped the host nation 6-1 in its first game and beat Switzerland 3-2 on Saturday before falling to Russia 6-1 on Tuesday. Rampage forwards Vince Trocheck and Drew Shore have both seen minutes for the United States. Trocheck has averaged 14:27 of ice time in two games while Shore is averaging 8:24 through all three of Team USA’s games.
The Tampa Bay Lightning’s Tyler Johnson leads the U.S. with four points (1G, 3A). The U.S. National Team will take on Latvia on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. (CT). The game will air live on the NBC Sports Network.
Cincinnati Cyclones Can Wrap Up Series Tuesday
The San Antonio Rampage’s ECHL affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones, is making a run at the Kelly Cup as they prepare for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Fort Wayne Komets. Holding onto a 3-2 series lead, the Cyclones can wrap up the series with a win at home Tuesday night.
Some familiar faces are making significant contributions to Cincinnati’s playoff run. Wade Megan leads all Cyclones scorers with six goals and Jonathan Hazen ranks second in playoff points with three goals and six assists. Trevor Lewis and Logan Shaw have each contributed two goals and an assist and Josh McFadden has added five helpers from the blueline.
Rampage Knockout
After starting with 132 teams, the Rampage Knockout is down to just eight final fans. See who they are here. If you were knocked out, there is still an opportunity to win – make your pick for who you think will win and if they take it, you’ll be entered into a random drawing to win prizes.
Getting to Know Tyler Barnes
After wrapping up his career at the University of Wisconsin, Rampage winger Tyler Barnes had a short amount of time to make a lasting impression on the San Antonio coaching staff. He talks about his experience with the Rampage in this Q&A.
Rico Roman on Nashville
Rampage Sled Hockey and U.S. Paralympic gold medalist Rico Roman had a cameo on the hit ABC series Nashville last week. As Juliette Barnes, Luke Wheeler and Rayna James prepare for a concert for local troops in Nashville, Barnes stops to talk with a soldier, played by Roman, and she thanks him for his service.
